Fiona McNicholas

Makeup Artist

FAQ's

Q. Why should I book a professional make-up artist?

Having your makeup professionally applied will ensure the make up lasts all day and night.

Your makeup will be applied suitable for photography, ensuring contouring and highlighting is applied with perfection to get the best photos.

Having your makeup applied by a professional will also take away the pressure of having to apply your own makeup on your wedding day, especially if feeling nervous, and most importantly gives you the chance to be pampered!

Q. Do you offer hairstyling services as well as make up?

I am a makeup artist only, but I have a network of bridal hairstylists who I work with regularly if a bride wants the same 'team' to do hair and make up.

Q. What brands do you use?

My Makeup kit contains premium quality brands such as Bobbi Brown, Nars, Urban Decay, Mac, Illamasqua, Makeup forever,  and many more.

Q. What happens at the trial and how long will it last?

We will discuss the colour scheme and style of your wedding, your wedding dress, and any ideas you have about the sort of make up you want to achieve. I will recommend products to suit your skin.

I will then apply your make up as it would be on the day, including false eyelashes if you wish.

Once you are happy with the look, I will record all the products used on a face chart and take digital pictures.

I do not limit you to a certain length of time for the trial, it is very important that we get the look right for you, however long it takes.

Q Which geographical areas do you cover?

I am based in Uxbridge, Middlesex. I cover Middlesex, London, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire & Hertfordshire.

Q. How can I ensure that my make up will last all day?

The make up I use in my kit has all been selected for its durability and professional quality. Your make up will be applied using techniques to ensure that it will last and will look fresh for the whole day.

Q. What happens if you are ill on my wedding day

In the extremely unlikely event that I am not able to make your wedding date due to illness or other emergency, I will substitute another equally experienced artist for you, who will have been briefed on your wedding make up. If I am unable to find a replacement artist, I will provide a full refund.

Q.  How and when should payment be made?

On the day of the trial you will be required to pay the trial fee.  Once you are happy with the trial outcome, I will require a deposit of £50.00 to book your wedding date. The deposit is non-refundable and will be deducted from your final bill. The remaining balance will be payable by bank transfer 2 weeks prior to the wedding.

Q Do you charge for Mileage?

Travel costs: the first 20 miles from Ickenham, Middlesex where I am based are FREE. Thereafter the mileage is 0.45p per mile from Ickenham, Middlesex.

Q How long will my make up take on the day and should I have hair or make up done first?

I allow 1 hour for makeup for the bride, and 45 minutes for each extra person. There is no limit to the number of people that can have make up done on the day. I don't mind early starts and will bring an assistant if required.
